Job Opportunity

The Australian SKA Regional Centre (AusSRC) is a key component of the international Square Kilometre Array Observatory (SKAO), delivering advanced data services and infrastructure to support astronomy research.

This dynamic environment presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to a landmark scientific project, working closely with national and international collaborators to develop scalable systems for data processing and user engagement.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and supporting software components that underpin the AusSRC's capabilities, collaborating with skilled colleagues to design and implement robust systems for astronomical data delivery and analysis.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to determine their needs and priorities.
  • Develop software components that manage the dissemination of SKA data.
  • Contribute to operational support of AusSRC by analysing faults and deploying software components.
Role Particulars

Location: Perth (Kensington), WA or Sydney (Marsfield), NSW

Salary: AU$114K - AU$123K per annum plus superannuation

Tenure & Work Schedule: Indefinite; Full-time (preferred) – part-time and flexible work arrangements may be considered based on role and individual circumstances.

Qualifications and Skills

A relevant Bachelor's or Master's degree, or equivalent relevant work experience, in Computer Science and Programming.

Extensive experience developing distributed or enterprise software solutions.

Proven ability to identify and manage complex problems and adapt quickly to changing circumstances.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including liaising effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Experience in a computation-focused science domain, such as astronomy/radio astronomy, bioinformatics, genomics, geosciences, control systems and their interfaces, or other related domains.
