The National Measurement Institute is looking for a skilled Data Architect to support the delivery of a major IT enhancement project.

As a key team member, you will work with stakeholders across the organization to map current data holdings, inputs, and dependencies impacted by the project and research and recommend options for improvement.

You will have a deep understanding of data security controls required by the organization and be able to design and implement data architecture and integration frameworks that ensure best practice data lifecycle management and compliance with standards, policies, and regulations.

This is a 10-month non-ongoing position specifically for this project. Extension or ongoing conversion may be considered upon completion of the project.

We're looking for candidates with strong analytical and communication skills who understand the data lifecycle and can collaborate with stakeholders to improve reporting processes, standards for data accuracy, and quality.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience assessing and optimizing data holdings to ensure effective execution of business responsibilities and goals and a commitment to adhering to the Australian Public Service Values, NMI values, and Code of Conduct.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Map existing data holdings, inputs, and dependencies impacted by the project in consultation with stakeholders.
  • Investigate and recommend data optimization strategies for the project streams.
  • Design and implement data architecture and integration frameworks that ensure best practice data lifecycle management and compliance with standards, policies, and regulations.
  • Create documentation to support new data processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to improve reporting processes, standards for data accuracy, and quality.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Data Architect in Australian Public Service settings, preferably within agencies with regulatory compliance responsibilities.
  • Experience assessing and optimizing data holdings to ensure effective execution of business responsibilities and goals.
  • Understanding of, or ability to quickly learn, data security controls required by the organization.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, high accuracy, attention to detail, and good negotiation and presentation skills for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships; liaise with stakeholders within and outside the division.
