Job Description

The Queensland Herbarium and Biodiversity Science Centre serves as a hub for research and information on plants, animals and plant communities. It houses the Queensland Species and Herbarium Collection Team.

  • Provide high-level strategic leadership to the Species and Herbarium Collections Unit.
  • Develop and maintain professional expertise in plant or macrofungal systematics and herbarium collection science.
  • Ensure the successful development, delivery and implementation of new and enhanced plant systematics and herbarium collection science.
  • Supervise staff and foster good working relationships within the unit and broader Science Division.

You will have:

  • Effective leadership skills, including team management and project coordination.
  • Knowledge and experience in plant or macrofungal systematics and herbarium collection science.
  • Ability to lead change and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.

To be eligible for appointment, you must hold a university degree in Science, majoring in botany or ecology. You must also possess an unrestricted manual driver's license and be an Australian citizen or have a visa permitting work in Australia.
