Clinical Coding Auditor

Accurate clinical coding is crucial for patient care and revenue assurance.

This position plays a vital part in ensuring the quality and accuracy of clinical coding, which has significant commercial implications.

The successful candidate will possess excellent clinical coding skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and a keen understanding of coded data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing expert advice on Australian Clinical Coding Standards and national/state coding advice to clinical coders
  • Reviewing coded episodes prior to invoicing to minimize inaccuracies
  • Resolving ambiguities in coding and documentation by seeking clarification from relevant committees and clinicians
  • Contributing to revenue recovery analysis and identifying coding and documentation deficiencies
  • Participating in internal and external audits as required

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Intermediate/Advanced Clinical Coding or auditing course
  • Strong background in clinical coding with at least 5 years of recent experience at a medium to large acute hospital
  • Proficiency in MS Excel
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and time manage
  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Health Information Management (or equivalent)
