An exciting opportunity is currently available for a Clinical Coding Pre-Billing Auditor to join the friendly and supportive Health Information Services team at Northern Beaches Hospital. This role supports our clinical coding team within the quality and revenue assurance space.

The position suits a highly motivated individual with excellent clinical coding skills who is seeking to expand or consolidate their experience with a more complex casemix and is ready for a new challenge.

Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Providing guidance to Clinical Coders on the Australian Clinical Coding Standards and relevant coding advice.
  • Reviewing coded episodes before invoicing to minimize inaccuracies.
  • Clarifying ambiguities in coding and documentation with relevant committees and clinicians.
  • Analyzing revenue recovery and identifying coding/documentation deficiencies.
  • Participating in audits and following up on recommendations.
  • Performing data and revenue quality functions.
  • Liaising with stakeholders regarding coding and documentation issues.

Essential criteria:

  • HIMAA Intermediate/Advanced Clinical Coding or auditing course.
  • At least 5 years of recent clinical coding experience in a medium to large acute hospital.
  • Interest and understanding of the commercial implications of coded data.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.

Desirable criteria:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Health Information Management or equivalent.
  • Clinical Coding Audit qualification.
  • Knowledge of webPAS patient administration system.
  • Previous experience in a private hospital.
