Job Overview

A clinical coding pre-billing auditor is a professional responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of coded data within healthcare organizations. This role plays a crucial part in revenue assurance by minimizing inaccuracies and optimizing billing processes.

The ideal candidate will have excellent clinical coding skills and experience working with complex casemix data. They should be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and ready to take on new challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance on Australian Clinical Coding Standards and national/state coding advice to clinical coders.
  • Review coded episodes prior to invoicing to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Resolve ambiguities in coding and documentation by seeking clarification from relevant committees and clinicians.
  • Contribute to revenue recovery analysis, including identification of coding and documentation deficiencies.
  • Participate in internal and external audits as required.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • HIMAA Intermediate/Advanced Clinical Coding or auditing course.
  • Strong background in clinical coding with at least 5 years of recent experience at a medium to large acute hospital.
  • Understanding of commercial implications of coded data.
  • Competent in MS Excel.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and time manage.
