Responsibilities
  • Apply your coding expertise by reviewing patient records (paper and electronic), accurately allocating ICD-10-AM and ACHI codes, and assigning DRGs using Solventum Coding and Grouping software, in line with Australian Coding Standards and NSW Health guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with health professionals to clarify diagnoses and procedures, ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • Contribute to quality and compliance through coding audits, HACs reviews, clinical reviews, as well as maintaining PICQ and RISQ indicators.
  • Support continuous improvement and innovation by staying up to date with coding developments, implementing new practices from IHACPA/NSW Health, and actively participating in quality initiatives such as EQUIP.
  • Grow and share your expertise by assisting with training new coders, answering coding queries, and contributing to weekly clinician–coder meetings.
About You

We're looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Clinical Coder who is passionate about accuracy and quality in health information. To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Formal qualifications in clinical coding – completion of a recognised coding course (HIMAA, OTEN) or a relevant tertiary qualification in Health Information Management, with proven coding experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in ICD-10-AM coding with a strong knowledge of Australian Coding Standards and medical terminology.
  • Proficiency in coding systems and technology, including Solventum Coding and Grouping software, along with strong computer skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clinicians and colleagues.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, able to work both independently and as part of a supportive team, with strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
