Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team at TheirCare, a leading childcare provider dedicated to ensuring the well-being and development of children in our care.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.
  • Assist in financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable when required, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
Key Duties:
  • Calculate correct employee pay considering hours worked, split shift allowances, taxes, workcover, superannuation, and other factors.
  • Process electronic employee payments on a fortnightly basis.
  • Process holiday, sick, maternity, and paternity leave payments.
  • Answer employee questions about their timesheets and payslips.
  • Process PAYG deductions and send payroll information to the ATO.
  • Obtain and verify direct debit banking information, tax file number, and Superannuation details from employees.
  • Check timesheets within HumanForce to verify rostered hours and contracted hours are complete.
  • Develop and review payroll policies and procedures to ensure they remain current and fit for purpose.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
  • Distribute fortnightly payslips to employees.
  • Onboard and offboard employees.
  • Participate in new payroll system implementation.
Compliance and Reporting:
  • Work closely with the finance team to ensure all payroll aspects are compliant with the national law and regulations, including the Fair Work Act and National Employment Standards (NES).
  • Have in-depth knowledge of the Children's Services Award MA000120.
  • Ensure Single Touch Payroll (STP) and Payroll tax reporting compliance.
  • Maintain Superannuation Guarantee compliance and apply increases as needed.
  • Calculate Annual leave, Personal Leave, and LSL accurately.
  • Ensure Workcover compliance in relevant States.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Clear understanding of payroll laws, taxes, and PAYG procedures.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, including active listening, to accurately answer employee questions.
  • High-level mathematical skills.
  • Knowledge of economics, accounting, and other financial concepts.
  • Proficiency in using office and payroll software, especially Excel with VLOOKUP and MYOB Payroll.
  • Self-motivation and organizational skills to meet deadlines.
  • Initiative and ambition to develop professionally.
  • A qualification in the relevant field is desired.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently. The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
