Job Title: Community Health Liaison Specialist

As a Community Health Liaison Specialist, you will play a critical role in bridging the gap between healthcare services and First Nations communities. This position requires a deep understanding of contemporary First Nations cultures, protocols, and health-related procedures.

Job Description:

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide direct support and assistance to clinicians and First Nations patients, families, and communities across the region. You will work closely with service providers to deliver culturally appropriate healthcare to First Nations women while in-patients, ensuring accessible and equitable health outcomes.

This role involves facilitating a seamless transition between service providers on behalf of and in consultation with First Nations peoples. You will also provide information and resources that enhance the ability of First Nations patients to make informed healthcare choices and navigate through the complex healthcare arena.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Vaccination against certain vaccine-preventable diseases as outlined in relevant health directives
  • Proven ability to work effectively with First Nations peoples within a healthcare context, demonstrating a clear understanding of contemporary First Nations cultures, protocols, and health-related procedures
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and appropriately with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, advocating on behalf of First Nations peoples
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including preparing complex reports and responding directly to concerns of patients, carers, and family members
  • Sound knowledge of relevant I.T. systems for patient-specific information and statistical data, inclusive of collection, collation, and reporting towards improving First Nations health outcomes
