About the Role

Kuehne + Nagel is seeking a skilled Distribution Solutions Engineer to join our Contract Logistics Team. This position will be based in Melbourne's western suburbs.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the Business Development team and customers to prepare compelling tenders and navigate contract complexities.
  • Create robust cost and financial models to support customer proposals.
  • Craft competitive pricing solutions for customer tenders and foster strong client relationships.
  • Drive innovation by identifying new concepts and technology while building on existing best practices.
  • Present solutions to customers as part of the tendering process.
  • Develop strategic solutions for customers, challenging the status quo and guiding them constructively.
  • Develop strong partnerships with key vendors to optimise costing and service lead times.
  • Leverage available tools and systems while ensuring high standards of compliance.
  • Define and propose the best matching solution considering requirements versus operational constraints.
  • Innovate and implement continuous improvement initiatives to elevate financial conditions and service levels.
  • Quickly scan and value opportunities for Contract Logistics, including feasibility evaluations.
  • Set up a segment-specific database to include subcontractor prices, vehicle planning tools, and industry benchmarking.
  • Work closely with the Divisional Finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting and insightful analysis.

About You

Additionally, you will:

  • Have a minimum five years' experience in a local transport or 3PL organisation.
  • Have strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Have proficient Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Be solutions-driven and innovative.
