Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate youth mentor to support young people aged 15-21 into work or education in the Cessnock region. The Transition to Work program provides intensive pre-employment support to develop practical skills, address barriers to employment, connect with education or training, find local job opportunities, and access relevant community services.

As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in mentoring and supporting young people. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing vocational guidance to youth participants
  • Working with participants to help identify their vocational and employment goals and implementing these through the development of a Job Plan
  • Maintaining participant engagement and connecting them to specialist employment providers
  • Utilising government incentives to facilitate capacity building through education
  • Delivering one-on-one and group training programs
  • Effective reporting and communication

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Experience working in youth support services
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching and supporting others to build capacity
  • Experience in caseload management
  • Desirable experience in employment/recruitment services
  • Passion for working with and elevating youth
  • Confidence in delivering employability skills workshops/programs in one-on-one and group settings with local employers
  • Tertiary qualifications in Youth, Community, or Employment (desirable)
  • Proficient administration and computer skills
  • Current Driver's License
  • Ability to gain Working with Children clearance and NDIS Worker Screening
  • Effective communication skills
