Corporate Legal Counsel

We are seeking a highly skilled Corporate Legal Counsel to join our team. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced lawyer to provide corporate, commercial and financial services legal advice and governance advice to all of our businesses.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications (LLB or equivalent)
  • A current NSW (or other Australian State) Legal Practitioner Practising Certificate
  • Minimum 3 years' post qualification experience in a mid or top-tier firm
  • Experience in providing commercial legal advice
  • Previous experience working in an insurance and/or Australian financial services environment (desirable)

In this role you will assist our Senior Legal Counsel with the provision of corporate, commercial and financial services legal advice and governance advice to all of our businesses. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing marketing material to ensure legal compliance
  • Providing corporate legal, commercial and governance advice to all of our businesses
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts
  • Providing insurance product advice and documentation
  • Interpreting statutes and advising on legislative reform impacting our business
  • Supporting corporate litigation
  • Providing legal advice on complaints and potential disputes, including at AFCA
  • Delivering staff legal training

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a high level of commercial awareness, stakeholder management skills and strong written and verbal communication skills.

As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our senior leadership team and contribute to the development of our business strategy.
