Job Overview

The role of a Fire Communications Officer is pivotal in emergency situations. This position entails taking fire and other emergency calls, collecting vital information, and dispatching appropriate resources.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Taking incoming calls and gathering necessary information for effective response.
  • Evaluating risks associated with emergencies to determine the most suitable response strategy.
  • Dispatching required resources, coordinating efforts, and notifying relevant organizations as per established protocols.
  • Updating incident records, monitoring progress, and supporting operational staff throughout the incident.
  • Completing post-incident tasks, including providing reports and information to stakeholders.
  • Maintaining awareness of alarm signals and responding accordingly.
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to new team members.
  • Contributing to the enhancement of operational and administrative systems and procedures.
  • Identifying technical issues and collaborating with specialists to address them.
Requirements:
  • Possession of a valid Blue Card, along with supporting documentation.
  • Australian citizenship, New Zealand citizenship, or Australian residency status.
  • Hold or be able to obtain a Certificate III in Public Safety (Emergency Communications Centre Operations).
  • Ability to complete the Communications Training and Professional Development Program at the prescribed level.
