This is a pivotal role in driving payroll operations transformation, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency. The successful candidate will oversee the entire payroll cycle for all employees, maintain and enhance payroll systems, records, and reporting processes, lead payroll audits, and collaborate with external auditors.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the entire payroll cycle for all employees – guaranteeing timely and compliant delivery.
- Maintain and enhance payroll systems, records, and reporting processes to drive operational excellence.
- Lead payroll audits and collaborate with external experts.
- Resolve complex payroll queries with clarity and confidence.
- Partner with Finance and HR on payroll reconciliations and reporting.
- Lead payroll transformation projects, including system upgrades and process redesign to drive business outcomes.
- Identify and implement automation opportunities to streamline payroll operations.
- Develop clear, streamlined payroll procedures and documentation to ensure ease of use.
- Integrate payroll seamlessly with broader business systems and processes to drive efficiency.
- Benchmark operations against industry best practice and drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure full compliance with relevant awards, enterprise agreements, tax, superannuation, and employment law.
- Monitor legislative changes and assess their impact on payroll to stay ahead of regulatory requirements.
- Implement robust controls and risk mitigation measures to protect the organization.
- Lead, coach, and mentor payroll team members to ensure high performance and engagement.
- Act as the payroll subject matter expert (SME) across business projects and initiatives.
- Build trusted partnerships with internal stakeholders and external providers to drive success.
- Communicate change clearly and effectively, bringing stakeholders on the transformation journey.
- Proven experience in end-to-end payroll management within a complex organization.
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation, industrial instruments, and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated success in delivering payroll process improvements and/or transformation projects.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – you're confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
- A collaborative mindset, with the ability to influence and lead through change.
- People leadership experience, with a focus on coaching and developing others.
