About the Role

As a Web Developer at Sonder, you will play a crucial role in shaping and maintaining our dynamic online presence. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and continuously enhancing our website using WordPress and headless CMS architecture.

This role involves managing a comprehensive site, ensuring each page is responsive, optimized, and engaging. You will work closely with the marketing team to ensure that the Sonder website is visually appealing and user-friendly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build, update, and maintain the Sonder website using WordPress and headless CMS frameworks, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure that the Sonder website is visually appealing and user-friendly.
  • Optimize the website for speed, performance, conversion rates, and SEO to enhance user experience and effectiveness.
  • Implement and manage integrations with various APIs and third-party services to ensure seamless functionality across platforms.
  • Stay current with the latest trends in web development, particularly in WordPress and headless CMS technologies, and apply this knowledge to ongoing projects.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Monitor website performance, report on key metrics, and make recommendations for improvements as necessary.
What You'll Bring
  • Proven experience in WordPress development, including custom themes and plugin development.
  • Experience with headless CMS solutions such as WordPress Headless CMS and Contentful.
  • Strong understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and responsive design.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and JSON.
  • Experience with version control systems like Git.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices.
  • Experience in optimizing web performance, including loading speed and responsiveness.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Passionate about web development and creating high-quality websites.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
