The Opportunity Summary

We are seeking an experienced Production Manager for a heavy industrial processing plant in Tasmania. This role involves overseeing daily operations, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency standards are met. Responsibilities include managing production staff, providing training and coaching, and resolving issues that arise.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement systems that ensure the safety and well-being of staff and the environment.
  • Allocate and manage resources to minimise risks and hazards, maintaining a clean and eco-friendly work site.
  • Supervise and coordinate daily work activities of the production team.
  • Monitor and control costs, taking action to prevent overspending.
  • Lead, hire, and train the production team to achieve optimal employee performance.
  • Manage logistics to ensure desired shipping rates and minimise cost/tonne.
  • Support strategic planning for the site.
  • Implement and commission Capex projects and business improvement initiatives to enhance production processes.

Necessary Skills and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive production management experience in heavy industries such as manufacturing, oil and gas, mining, and processing plants.
  • Strong leadership background in manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Knowledge of SAP, Engineering concepts, and process knowledge.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • High level of problem-solving and decision-making skills, handling complex situations.
  • Good knowledge of quality management systems, environmental regulations, and occupational health and safety standards.

Working Conditions:

Flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by the production schedule.
