Job Title

Leader of Wellbeing and Practice - Flexible School Position.

  • This is a Fixed-Term Full-Time Senior Leader role with a continuing substantive full-time teaching or non-teaching position.

The start date will be 20 January 2025 or to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

About the Organisation

Geraldton Flexible School is a Catholic educational institution in the Edmund Rice tradition. It is one of 23 Flexible Schools across Australia that provide a full-time and multi-year secondary education program for young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling.

The school caters for young people with diverse needs and complex requirements. The teaching and learning practices at Geraldton Flexible School are flexible and innovative, focusing on vocational planning and social connectedness.

The purpose of the Flexible School is to provide students with varied and holistic learning experiences, supporting them to identify and pursue their individual goals towards adulthood, employment, further education, and training.

About the Role

The Leader of Wellbeing and Practice reports directly to the Head of Campus and is responsible for developing and maintaining the strategic wellbeing and social inclusion strategies for the campus.

The key responsibilities include providing operational line management and practice leadership to youth workers and young people, working collaboratively with site leadership teams, teachers, and educational assistants.

The Leader of Wellbeing and Practice is accountable for implementing and leading the Wellbeing Framework and whole-site strategic wellbeing plan.

About You

Applicants should have an understanding of and commitment to the values of a Catholic educational system in the Edmund Rice tradition.

A minimum of five years' experience in youth work, social services, or health professions is essential.

Previous experience in wellbeing programs is desirable.

Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, or related health sciences are required.

Applicants should also have experience working with young people who are disenfranchised from mainstream education.

Leadership skills and the ability to apply knowledge and develop site-based wellbeing programs are essential for this role.

A Working With Children Check is mandatory.

Teacher Registration may be required for certain applicants.
