Board Director Opportunity

Greenpeace Australia Pacific Limited is seeking to appoint two new directors at the annual general meeting.

The board is dedicated to upholding Greenpeace's values, mission, and purpose. We work to project a compelling vision of an earth capable of nurturing life in all its diversity and use our strengths to bring down vested interests that stand in the way.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure that Greenpeace's mission is clear, appropriate, and maintains relevance as circumstances change.
  • Guide the strategic direction of the organisation.
  • Monitor programmes and activities to ensure alignment with Greenpeace's mission and achievement of short-term goals and long-term purpose.
  • Ensure executive performance by setting objectives and performance indicators for the CEO and regularly reviewing their performance.
  • Ensure that the organisation obtains and appropriately uses the resources required to carry out its mission and sustain it.
  • Be satisfied as to the adequacy and integrity of financial and other reporting to the Board and that there are adequate systems of internal control.
  • Be satisfied that systems for identification and management of risks are robust and appropriate.
  • Comply with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission Governance Standards.
  • Have an Australian Director Identification Number.
Selection Criteria
  • Finance Experience: Proficiency in reading and evaluating financial statements and financial management reports, experience in budgeting and long-term forecasting of revenue and expenditure, familiarity with different revenue models, and previous experience with finance and audit committees.
  • Marketing Experience: Extensive experience in developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating fundraising/sales and marketing strategies, experience in cultivating brand health, and familiarity with audience and segmentation strategies.
  • Campaigning and/or Ecological/Science Experience: Experience in developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating a campaign or programme of campaigns, background in strategy development, and/or experience in positions requiring the application of ecology or environmental sciences.

Applicants must be able to fully commit to Greenpeace's mission, goal, and values, display leadership, work collaboratively and cooperatively, and speak up and ask the hard questions.
