Transportation Engineering Leaders Wanted for Key Roles in Western North Carolina and South Carolina
About the Position:We are seeking exceptional professionals to lead our transportation engineering efforts in western North Carolina and South Carolina. As a Senior Transportation Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for driving business growth, expanding our presence in new markets, and delivering complex transportation projects.
Main Responsibilities:- Lead business development initiatives to identify new opportunities and position VHB for strategic wins across the Carolinas.
- Serve as a senior point of contact for key clients, including NCDOT and SCDOT, and collaborate with senior leadership to develop client capture plans and teaming strategies.
- Develop and implement growth strategies for transportation services in the Charlotte region and surrounding markets, supporting marketing and proposal efforts aligned with business goals.
- Serve as Senior Project Manager on select transportation design projects, particularly those that are complex, multidisciplinary, or high-profile.
- Lead or support alternative delivery pursuits and project execution, such as Design-Build and P3.
- Build and mentor a high-performing team, supporting staff development through coaching, training, and collaborative leadership.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, or a related field.
- 11–15+ years of progressive experience in transportation engineering and project delivery.
- Strong familiarity with NCDOT and SCDOT project delivery processes and key contacts.
- Proven success in client relationship management and business development, including developing win strategies and leading proposal efforts.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina required; PE license in South Carolina preferred or ability to obtain.
- Experience with alternative delivery methods is a strong plus.
