A traffic engineer is an essential role within our transportation systems group. We are currently seeking an entry-level traffic engineer to join our team, who will work with a team of traffic engineers and highway safety specialists on a variety of public, private, and institutional projects. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to apply practical solutions to real-world problems for our clients.

Our ideal candidate has an interest in the practice of traffic and transportation engineering and is eager to develop and enhance a diverse set of skills on traffic operations, transportation design, and/or transportation planning projects throughout North Carolina and Mid-Atlantic region. This position includes developing and enhancing a diverse set of skills on traffic operations, transportation design, and/or transportation planning projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Working within a team of professionals in developing traffic and transportation planning and engineering solutions for a multitude of transportation projects.
  • Performing intersection and corridor operational analyses using various analysis tools.
  • Analyzing, developing, and evaluating of traffic improvements.
  • Developing conceptual intersection/roadway improvement design and traffic signal design plans in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
  • Preparing written documents, summarizing data and analysis, and assembling reports to convey findings and recommendations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 0 to 1 years of transportation experience, preferably related to traffic or safety.
  • Experience with Synchro/Sidra, VISSIM, TransModeler, and/or other capacity software a plus.
  • Experience with ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and/or MicroStation a plus.
