Senior Transportation Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer to lead our team in Charlotte. This strategic role will be instrumental in expanding our presence in western North Carolina and South Carolina, building client relationships, identifying new project opportunities, and leading pursuits in both traditional and alternative delivery markets.
Main Responsibilities:- Develop and execute business development strategies across western NC and SC, including identifying new opportunities, building client relationships, and positioning the company for key pursuits.
- Serve as a senior point of contact for strategic clients, particularly NCDOT, SCDOT, and local agencies.
- Drive growth strategy for transportation services in the Charlotte region and surrounding markets; support marketing, branding, and proposal efforts aligned with business goals.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement client capture plans, teaming strategies, and pursuit roadmaps.
- Serve as Senior Project Manager on select transportation design projects—particularly those that are complex, multidisciplinary, or high-profile.
- Lead or support alternative delivery pursuits and project execution (e.g., Design-Build, P3).
- Build and mentor a high-performing team; support staff development through coaching, training, and collaborative leadership.
- Maintain a strong understanding of industry trends, regional infrastructure priorities, funding programs, and agency initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, or a related field.
- 11–15+ years of progressive experience in transportation engineering and project delivery.
- Strong familiarity with NCDOT and SCDOT project delivery processes and key contacts.
- Proven success in client relationship management and business development, including developing win strategies and leading proposal efforts.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina required (SC PE preferred or ability to obtain).
- Experience with alternative delivery methods (e.g., Design-Build) and contractors is highly valued.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong understanding of transportation engineering principles, including highway design, permitting, and regulatory standards.
