Job Title: Professional Career Guidance

Are you passionate about helping students achieve their career goals? We are seeking a skilled Careers Counsellor to join our team and provide expert guidance and support to students in establishing their future pathways.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated individual to make a real difference in the lives of our students. As a Careers Counsellor, you will work closely with students, teachers, and parents to develop and implement a comprehensive careers education program that meets the needs of all students.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working in a secondary school environment, with up-to-date knowledge of Australian and international university selection procedures, as well as alternative post-secondary pathways.

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining networks between industry, tertiary institutions, and the school community to ensure students have access to relevant and current career information. Your strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, and highly developed communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to provide effective one-on-one counselling and support to students.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist students in establishing, building, and making informed decisions to create appropriate career pathways.
  2. Develop and maintain networks between industry, tertiary institutions, and the school community.
  3. Provide a careers education framework to Middle and Senior School staff to help students clarify and achieve their career goals.
  4. Advise and support Middle and Senior School students on subject selection, course options, and career choices.
  5. Implement a holistic student futures program that actively engages both students and parents.
Requirements
  • A accredited career development qualification or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a secondary school environment.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of Australian and international university selection procedures.
  • Working knowledge of the VTAC application process.
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
