We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team as a Career Guidance Specialist

This is a full-time position responsible for providing career guidance and academic support to students with diverse needs.

  • Become familiar with relevant policies and contribute to their review, revision, and implementation.
  • Ensure adherence to higher education policies informed by ASQA/TEQSA and the Higher Education Standards Framework.
  • Work closely with leadership to monitor and implement strategies for mitigating risks to student wellbeing.
  • Offer general advice to students on various issues, dilemmas, and problems related to course progress, personal matters, accommodation, workplace relations, job search/career development, etc.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of counselee appointments.
  • Conduct regular welfare and progress checks.
  • Liaise with department heads and colleagues to ensure students receive necessary support during work placement visits and follow up with those who do not meet requirements.
  • Stay updated on legislation, government policy changes, and key TEQSA directives affecting SCEI-HE's compliance.
  • Prepare templates, forms, brochures, and procedures supporting students' welfare, work, academic, and personal needs.
  • Create and file relevant student documents.
  • Assist staff in providing appropriate support to students.
  • Report on common themes and implement preventative strategies.
  • Contribute to maintaining an emotionally safe environment for students and staff.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage a full caseload.
  • Ensure confidentiality and share information only when appropriate.
