About the Role

This position is focused on providing essential support to children and young people in various ways. As a Family Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in working across Foster Care and Families for Life programs.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Providing varied types of support to Child and Youth placed in foster care (transportation, social/community, education, and mentoring)
  • Collaborative support, advocating for the child, and participation in our Key Care team Framework
  • Assisting in care/behavior plans for our children and young people
  • Completing required documentation for operational compliance
  • Compliance with business policies and child protection procedures
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Prior experience working with and/or on behalf of children, young people
  • Energy and enthusiasm, as well as a passion for working with children and young people
  • A certificate in Human Services or a similar relevant field (minimum Cert 4)
  • A current First Aid Certificate
  • Confidence and ability to deal with difficult situations
  • Training/experience in child abuse/trauma-related behaviors, youth Mental Health, and similar
  • Availability during weekdays, afternoons, and early evenings (some weekend work may apply)
  • Tenacity, diligence, and resilience – with the ability to adopt a creative approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced environment
