Job Title: Digital Preservation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled digital preservation specialist to drive the ongoing development and implementation of our digital preservation agenda.

  • This role will involve developing an in-depth knowledge of our current and future digital collection needs, providing high-level support in relation to digital preservation formats, associated metadata, and standards, and carrying out activities associated with the management of unidentified digital formats.
  • The successful applicant will also be responsible for designing and implementing new methods for managing complex digital records, working with information technology staff to oversee and test the effectiveness of our digital storage solutions, and managing teams and their performance.

A key aspect of this role will be to develop and maintain professional networks and relationships, ensuring the long-term preservation and accessibility of our digitised and digital born records.

Requirements
  • Relevant degree in information studies, archival or conservation science, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Experience in managing teams and their performance, as well as developing and maintaining professional networks.
  • Demonstrated expertise in digital preservation formats, associated metadata, and standards, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with IT staff.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.

  1. Australian citizenship is required.
  2. You must successfully undergo a pre-employment check and obtain and maintain a security clearance at a Negative Vetting 1 clearance level.
