About The Role

We are seeking a skilled Payroll Officer to join our team in Toowoomba. As a key member of our payroll team, you will be responsible for:

  1. Establishing and maintaining accurate payroll records, including new starters, payroll changes, and terminations, to ensure compliance with audit requirements.
  2. Interpreting awards, enterprise agreements, and employment contracts to provide support and advice to employees and site administration on payroll matters.
  3. Processing end-to-end payroll for Mort & Co and associated entities in a timely and accurate manner, including distribution of payslips to all employees and reporting Single Touch Payroll (STP) to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) within reporting timeframes.
  4. Ensuring compliance with payroll tax, STP, superannuation, workcover, and child support allowance through effective management of claims, reimbursements, declarations, contributions, payments, transactions, and reporting as required.
  5. Collating and confirming accuracy of timecards, ensuring leave entitlements and applications are calculated, confirmed, and processed in a timely manner, and fortnightly leave entitlement reports for sites and departments are processed effectively.
  6. Reconciling, processing, and receipting payroll deductions for employees, including rent deductions, fuel deductions, and salary sacrifice amounts.
  7. Preparing and submitting superannuation contributions to clearing house.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience in payroll and a desire to learn and develop. You will also bring:

  1. Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  2. Ability to work in a team and take instruction.
  3. Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  4. Good judgement and the ability to make timely, practical, and effective decisions.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft suite, and the ability to learn and effectively operate payroll software systems.
  7. Ability to prioritize, manage expectations, and meet deadlines.
  8. Ability to investigate issues and find solutions.
