About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Payroll Officer to join our team in Toowoomba. As a key member of our payroll team, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining accurate payroll records, interpreting awards and employment contracts, and processing end-to-end payroll for Mort & Co Limited and associated entities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain accurate payroll records, including new starters, payroll changes, and terminations.
  • Interpret awards, enterprise agreements, and employment contracts to provide support and advice to employees and site administration.
  • Process end-to-end payroll for Mort & Co Limited and associated entities in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll tax, Single Touch Payroll, superannuation, Workcover, and Child Support Allowance requirements.
  • Collate and confirm accuracy of timecards, leave entitlements, and applications.
  • Reconcile, process, and receipt payroll deductions for employees.
  • Prepare and submit superannuation contributions to a clearing house.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience in a payroll position and a desire to learn and develop. You will bring:

  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a team and take instruction.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Good judgment and the ability to make timely, practical, and effective decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft suite and payroll software systems.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage expectations, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to investigate issues and find solutions.
