Role Overview

This physically demanding role requires a self-motivated individual to join our team in the Eastern Valleys area of South East Wales. The successful candidate will be based at our depot near Pontypridd, where they will work in a predominantly outdoor environment.

The ideal candidate will operate a variety of hand tools, such as hooks and scythes, and powered tools like chainsaws, strimmers, and pole saws. They must also have the ability to understand technical and utility plans and operate in compliance with the Construction Design and Management Regulations.

This is an emergency incident callout role for flooding incidents, so applicants should live within 45 minutes' reach of the depot. The role follows a 9-day working pattern (with every second Friday off), and a badged vehicle is provided for travel to and from site.

Key Responsibilities

Manual labour services for the maintenance of NRW assets

Operating equipment such as hand-held tools

Understanding technical and utility plans

Providing effective communication and contributing to an incident response team

Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant operators licences for tools, machinery, and plant or work towards achieving
  • IOSH Working Safely qualification
  • Basic ICT competence
  • Emergency First Aid +F certificate
  • Previous forestry, construction, agricultural, environmental, or plant operators experience is desirable
  • Reasonable levels of fitness are required for this physically demanding role
  • Confident working in and near water
  • BASIC literacy and numeracy skills are required for the role
  • GCSE grade C (or equivalent) in English and Maths are essential
  • Full UK driving licence ideally to include cat B + E (trailer tow)
