This is a role for an experienced individual who will be part of a team operating in challenging remote locations.

The job involves manual labour services for maintenance of NRW assets, including flood risk assets and NRW managed land.

You will work with equipment such as hand-held tools which may include chainsaws, operate as a banksman and slinger/signaller, understand technical and utility plans, and operate in compliance with the Construction Design and Management Regulations.

Small plant and machinery like Aebi/Reform, pedestrian mowers, woodchippers etc. will also be used.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide manual labour services for maintenance of NRW assets.
  • Operate equipment such as hand-held tools.
  • Operate as a banksman and slinger/signaller.
  • Understand technical and utility plans.
  • Use small plant and machinery.
  • Participate in incident response activities.

This role follows a 9-day working pattern, and a badged vehicle is provided for travel to and from site. A full driving licence is essential. As an organisation we support flexible working.

Requirements

A successful candidate will have relevant Operators licences for tools, machinery and plant, IOSH Working Safely, ICT competence, Emergency First Aid +F, and previous forestry, construction, agricultural, environmental or plant operators experience is desirable.

Reasonable levels of fitness are required, confident working in and near water, basic literacy and numeracy skills are required for the role, and GCSE grade C (or equivalent) in English and Maths are essential. A Full UK driving licence ideally to include cat B + E (trailer tow) is also required.
