Job Title:

Clinical Coder

Description:

  • Analytical and coding skills are essential to interpret medical records and code data effectively.

  • This role requires collaboration with a supportive team, ongoing training, and mentorship opportunities.

  • A key responsibility is to enhance healthcare delivery by ensuring accurate patient data management.

  • The ICD-10-AM classification system is used for coding inpatient episodes of care while adhering to Australian Coding Standards.

  • Data is entered into the Patient Administration System (PAS) and cancer registration notifications are completed.

  • Discrepancies in Diagnosis-Related Groups (DRGs) during the coding process are monitored and reported.

  • Participation in audits, training, and team meetings enhances coding accuracy and data quality.

Requirements:

  • A recognised clinical coding qualification or Health Information Management degree is required.

  • A minimum of 12 months experience in clinical coding using ICD-10-AM classification system and knowledge of current Australian Coding Standards is necessary.

  • Understanding of DRG assignment and the relationship between Clinical Coding and Activity Based Funding is essential.

  • Experience using computerised systems such as Solventum Codefinder and the Patient Administration System (PAS) is required.

  • The ability to organise and prioritise workload and meet deadlines is crucial.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.

  • The ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team is required.

  • Commitment to continuing professional development and working in a continuous quality environment is essential.

Location: Western Sydney Local Health District

Remuneration: $38.39 - $39.26 per hour
