Job Role Overview

The APS5 and APS6 Project Officer is accountable under limited direction to lead and support projects across the agency.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assisting in project management and coordination activities, monitoring and reviewing program and project activities against plans.
  • Contributing to the development and management of project plans and schedules.
  • Providing advice, procedural guidance and technical expertise in specific areas of project work.
  • Performing research work and analysis including contributing to the preparation of reports.
  • Contributing to regular project reporting including status updates and exception reports.
  • Drafting a range of written material including business cases, plans, executive briefs and corporate documentation for review.
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • A strong understanding of agile project management methodology to plan, monitor and deliver work packages.
  • The ability to meet critical deadlines.
  • A demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision as an effective member of a team, using a high level of initiative to manage competing priorities.
  • Advanced communication skills and ability to work well with stakeholders and manage expectations.
  • Well developed Microsoft 365 skills (Word, PowerPoint, Planner).
  • Government administration experience.
  • Australian Citizenship required.
Additional Requirements
  • Qualifications in either project management, government or the social services field.
  • At least 2 years project management experience.
