Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our team at GHD. As a key member of our Newcastle Water Team, you will play a critical role in leading water resources assessments and providing creative solutions to our clients.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic and committed team of water specialists who are passionate about driving change for their community. As a Senior Water Resources Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading water resources assessments, integrating water balance, water quality, flooding, and drainage aspects for traditional energy and resources projects and emerging asset transition applications.
  • Coordinating and reviewing hydrology and hydraulic modeling to inform planning studies through to detailed design of new infrastructure.
  • Providing technical expertise and guidance to project teams, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Staying up-to-date with industry developments, best practices, and regulatory requirements to ensure that our projects are delivered in accordance with the latest standards and guidelines.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A strong understanding of the environmental issues related to the management of surface water, particularly for energy and resource clients.
  • Advanced analytical and spreadsheet abilities, with intermediate GIS capability preferred.
  • Experience in hydrology and hydraulic modeling, with a strong understanding of water balance, water quality, flooding, and drainage aspects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • A Bachelor of Civil and/or Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
