About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Software Engineer to join our team for an industrial placement opportunity. As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining software applications, working closely with our team to deliver high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and test new software drivers for hardware that controls experiments at ISIS
  • Develop and maintain user interfaces for our software applications
  • Maintain a comprehensive suite of automated tests to ensure software quality
  • Create and deploy new releases of the IBEX control system
  • Interact with customers and other team members to ensure effective communication and collaboration
  • Participate in all aspects of the agile development process
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled on an undergraduate degree course and returning to university/studies to complete your undergraduate degree following the placement
  • Required or have requested to take an industrial placement year
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the placement
  • Able to commence employment in summer 2025
  • Excellent knowledge of modern programming languages such as Java, Python, C# or C++
  • Knowledge of OOP paradigm
  • Good communication skills
  • Demonstrable good team working capabilities
  • A desire to learn new skills, both technical and non-technical
