Claims Specialist Role Overview

The role of a Claims Specialist is integral to the delivery of claims management services. This position will handle a portfolio of general insurance claims, focusing on liability and property damages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end processes for a mixed portfolio of primarily Public Liability and Property claims;
  • Conduct accurate reserving, claims investigation, manage claims costs, and negotiate with various third parties;
  • Build and maintain rapport with clients, providing tailored solutions to their needs;
  • Analyse the entitlements of cover to ensure optimal outcomes;
  • Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including brokers, underwriters, and reinsurers.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of general insurance claims experience, with a focus on liability and property claims;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information in a clear and concise manner;
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and work flexibly when required;
  • Deductive reasoning and problem-solving skills, with a focus on identifying creative solutions;
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on collaboration and open communication.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing high-value public liability, property claims, and D&O claims;
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, such as Law, Business/Commerce, or Loss Adjusting studies;
  • Previous client-facing experience, with a focus on building strong relationships;
  • Previous experience in mentoring colleagues and contributing to a positive team culture.
