Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic Lead

Job Description
We are seeking a skilled diesel mechanic to join our team as a leader and supervisor. The ideal candidate will have experience in heavy-duty vehicle repair, including brakes, transmissions, rear-ends, clutches, diesel engines, electrical systems, and welding/fabrication tasks.
The successful applicant will be responsible for supervising shift mechanics, authorizing and overseeing after-hours repairs, managing parts inventory, performing diagnostics, maintenance, and full-service repairs, and ensuring all repairs meet federal and state safety regulations.
Required qualifications include proven experience as a diesel mechanic, proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair software, strong mechanical, electrical, and welding skills, excellent problem-solving and communication abilities, and a valid driver's license. A CDL or willingness to obtain is also desired.

Responsibilities:
- Supervise shift mechanics by assigning tasks, verifying completed work, and assisting with training and disciplinary actions as needed.
- Authorize and oversee after-hours repairs in alignment with company policies and procedures.
- Manage parts inventory using TMT, including ordering, receiving, and tracking of parts and supplies.
- Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and full-service repairs on heavy-duty vehicles and trailers.
- Remove, repair, reinstall, and adjust vehicle components; conduct thorough final inspections to ensure all repairs meet federal and state safety regulations.
- Complete detailed work orders and maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
- Respond to on-site service calls and provide support as needed.
- Collaborate with technicians and provide guidance on complex repairs and troubleshooting.
- Open and close the maintenance facility, ensuring readiness and security of operations.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a diesel mechanic; supervisory or lead technician experience .
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair software (experience with TMT a plus).
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and welding skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities.
- Valid driver's license; CDL or willingness to obtain.
