About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Officer/Senior Research Officer to join our team in the Centre for Tropical Water and Aquatic Ecosystem Research (Trop WATER) at James Cook University.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to an expanding program in coastal river ecology, water quality, and wetland systems repair
  • Work with a team of scientists on research projects for government, industry, and non-government partners
  • Design, analyze, and interpret environmental data sets and experiments
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and collaborators
  • Prepare funding proposals and manage projects
Requirements
  • PhD or Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 6 years of professional experience in coastal ecology and water quality
  • High-level experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation skills
  • Experience with project management, including preparing funding proposals and developing relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft and database/statistical software
  • Experience with organizing and managing field programs, including in remote locations
