Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Specialist Role

Ashurst Risk Advisory provides expertise complementing core services. The team focuses on collaboration, diversity, transparency and innovation, offering training with leaders, direct business involvement and clear career opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver ESG and risk solutions for clients, ensuring high-quality work and timely delivery.
  • Maintain relationships with Ashurst and client stakeholders, contributing to business development and growth of the Risk Advisory practice and ESG team in Australia.
  • Advise clients on strategic planning and ESG risk frameworks, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing effective solutions.
  • Assess risk programs, review governance frameworks and design compliance programs, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Engage in leadership projects, sustainability and energy transition initiatives, with a focus on native title, Aboriginal cultural heritage or land access approvals experience desirable.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • 2-5 years' ESG/sustainability experience, preferably within a respected consulting or legal environment.
  • Familiarity with common tools, frameworks and standards in ESG/sustainability, including climate change mitigation strategies and stakeholder engagement techniques.
  • Self-starter with ability to work in a fast-paced environment, proactive, confident and collaborative, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience delivering high-quality work, including sustainability programs and Traditional Owner engagement, with a strong understanding of indigenous cultures and community needs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with attention to detail and ability to produce reports, letters and proposals.
  • Willingness to take on greater responsibility and engage in client interaction and business development, with a strong commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
