Industrial Design Project Lead

We are seeking a seasoned Design Manager to lead our design team and oversee the delivery of industrial/commercial projects.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- A strong background in design management, with a degree in Engineering (Civil/Structural preferred), Construction Management, Architecture, or similar.
- At least 5 years' experience in a design management role within the construction industry.
- Proven track record of delivering complex projects up to $75M.
- Exceptional knowledge of Australian building codes, standards, OHS, environmental and quality systems.
- Proficiency in Procore (or similar), MS Project, Excel, Bluebeam, and PDF editing/mark-up software.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Leading the design team to deliver high-quality designs that meet project requirements.
- Overseeing consultant selection, briefing, and engagement to ensure best outcomes.
- Managing the design process from concept through to final documentation.
- Providing technical guidance, value engineering, and innovative solutions during tender, design, and delivery phases.
- Reviewing and verifying design documentation to identify and resolve discrepancies, clashes, and omissions.
- Chairing design meetings and driving timely resolution of issues.
You will also have the opportunity to:
- Collaborate with project delivery teams to align design outcomes with project methodology, program, and budget.
- Liaise with clients to build strong, enduring relationships.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote QDC's reputation for technical excellence.
