We are seeking a highly experienced electrical design engineer to oversee and deliver high-quality designs across industrial and infrastructure projects. This leadership role involves technical oversight, team coordination, and client engagement ensuring all designs meet performance, compliance, and safety requirements.
This is a key position in our engineering team where you will be responsible for leading the development of electrical designs, overseeing preparation of detailed drawings, schematics, cable schedules, and documentation using electrical CAD software. You will also ensure compliance with relevant standards, maintain design quality through adherence to company procedures, peer reviews, and design checks.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent, minimum 8–10 years' experience in electrical design engineering, preferably in mining, oil & gas, utilities, or heavy industry sectors. They should have strong knowledge of LV and HV electrical systems, equipment specifications, and design practices, as well as proficiency in electrical design tools such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, ETAP or PowerTools.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills, proven ability to manage design deliverables across multiple projects and meet deadlines, and current Australian working rights – Citizen / PR or Eligible Visa. Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or Registered Professional Engineer (RPEQ / RPEV) status is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and lead electrical designs for industrial and commercial installations.
- Oversee preparation of detailed drawings, schematics, cable schedules, and documentation.
- Maintain design quality through adherence to company procedures, peer reviews, and design checks.
- Ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards, client specifications, and statutory regulations.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 8–10 years' experience in electrical design engineering, preferably in mining, oil & gas, utilities, or heavy industry sectors.
- Strong knowledge of LV and HV electrical systems, equipment specifications, and design practices.
- Proficient in electrical design tools such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, ETAP or PowerTools.
- Sound understanding of AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3008, AS/NZS 61439, and other relevant standards.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to manage design deliverables across multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Current Australian working rights – Citizen / PR or Eligible Visa.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or Registered Professional Engineer (RPEQ / RPEV).
