Aboriginal Communications Specialist

This is a 12-month fixed term opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement internal and external communication strategies to engage employees, support key projects and initiatives and deliver successful program outcomes.
  • Provide strategic guidance and advice on internal channels, campaigns, events and other relevant communication materials, consistent with the corporate brand.
  • Consult with internal stakeholders and teams, including Aboriginal Strategy and Reconciliation, Aboriginal Employment and Development, Aboriginal Heritage and Native Title and Aboriginal Contractor Engagement, to develop content that meets business needs.
  • Collaborate closely with subject matter experts across the business, to ensure communications are coordinated, aligned and consistent.
  • Establish measures of success and report on communication activities.
Requirements:
  • Qualification in Communications, Public Relations or Media Management.
  • Experience in Aboriginal employee engagement, stakeholder and issues management.
  • Experience in drafting strategic communication plans, tactical communication plans and key messages.
  • Substantial experience in delivering communication programs and providing advice at a corporate level in a large service-based organisation.
  • Proactive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of policies impacting Aboriginal people.
