About the Role

The Family Liaison Officer position involves providing essential support to families accompanying workers from the Pacific and Timor-Leste as they settle into life in Australia.

This includes building strong relationships with key stakeholders, such as Approved Employers, regional relationship managers, and local councils, to ensure families receive necessary assistance.

The role requires connecting families with relevant Home Affairs migrant settlement resources, like Medicare and Child Care Subsidy, and addressing any service gaps that may arise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to provide necessary support to families
  • Connect families with relevant Home Affairs migrant settlement resources and address service gaps
  • Act as a primary point of contact for families after their arrival, monitoring their progress and providing regular check-ins
  • Collaborate with Community Connections to establish informal groups for families to share experiences and support one another
  • Maintain records of issues affecting families and children, identifying common issues to address proactively
  • Gather and record information for the Monitoring & Evaluation framework
  • Deliver briefings to families on arrival and support them as they prepare to return home

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess tertiary qualifications in social work or a related field, minimum 2 years work experience in case management, and excellent people-to-people skills.

Background or experience in working in migrant settlement, family support programs, or services is highly advantageous.
