Disability Support Specialist

The Disability Support Specialist plays a central point of contact for support workers and participants, ensuring clear communication and consistency across all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain relationships between participants and their team of support workers.
  • Assess participant needs and develop personalized support programs.
  • Maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including support coordinators and house supervisors.
  • Lead support worker teams in providing person-centered care and facilitating progress toward participant goals.
  • Report on client progress and prepare submissions for NDIS plan reviews as required.
  • Coordinate staff rosters and resolve rostering issues proactively.
  • Ensure accurate case noting and client reviews align with participant NDIS plans.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience working in the disability sector, preferably in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Professional administrative and business communication skills, including case noting and report writing.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Client-centered approach with ability to advocate for participants and understanding of complex disability and trauma.
  • Own car and driver's license.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and high levels of resilience.
  • Understanding of the NDIS.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite and employee rostering systems.
