About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Underwriting Support Specialist to join our team at Suncorp. As an Underwriting Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the growth and profitability of our insurance portfolios.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional service and expertise to our customers, including responding to call centre requests and underwriting new business, referrals, and renewals.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of underwriting policies and guidelines, ensuring they are aligned with our business objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify trends, risks, and opportunities in underwriting appetite and portfolio dynamics.
  • Design, develop, and deliver programs of work that enhance capability in distribution, identify trends, risks, and opportunities in underwriting appetite, and demonstrate external awareness and commercial acumen.
  • Actively support the development and coaching of contact centre team members, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge required to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Review and provide feedback on underwriting controls, ensuring they are effective and aligned with our business objectives.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the insurance industry, with a strong background in underwriting and customer service.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends and opportunities in underwriting appetite and portfolio dynamics.
  • Ability to implement effective negotiation and decision-making skills, in line with risk appetite.
  • Well-developed initiative, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to stakeholder awareness and engagement.
