Job Overview

We are seeking a senior-level planner to contribute knowledge and strategic acumen as an advisor. The role involves acting as a key planning expert on appeals, gathering data, analysing plans and DA submissions, preparing SOFACs, attending Section 34 conferences and supporting lawyers and external firms in the Land and Environment Court.

About the Opportunity

This permanent, full-time position requires a passionate individual who can liaise with external firms, developers and engineers to support community interests and meet smart planning objectives for the city.

The Preferred Candidate Will
  • Evaluate planning matters correctly and assess compliance with relevant controls.
  • Prepare documents for filing in Court on behalf of Council.
  • Make recommendations on systems, processes and workflow amendments.
  • Manage consultant work to ensure effective defence of appeals.
  • Implement processes correctly and in a timely manner using our business process management system.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree qualifications in Town Planning or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in planning-related matters.
  • Current class C driver's licence.
Key Skills and Expertise
  • Superior knowledge of applicable legislation/regulations.
  • High level knowledge of NSW Planning Legislation and related policies.
  • High level understanding of the NSW Land and Environment Court procedures.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
