Neonatal Retrieval Nurse

We are seeking an experienced Neonatal Retrieval Nurse to join our team as a Therapeutic Transport Specialist. In this role, you will participate in patient retrievals by road, fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft throughout Victoria and occasionally interstate or overseas.
Key Responsibilities:- Clinical practice and delivery of care consistent with RCH and NMBA standards.
- Coordinate Perinatal, Neonatal and Paediatric referrals and retrievals.
- Transport patients safely and efficiently.
About the Department
PIPER is a statewide emergency consultation and medical retrieval service for newborn babies, children and women. We improve health outcomes through expert clinical advice and transport services.
What You'll Achieve
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Coordinating calls with NETS, PETS or PERS consultants and receiving hospital consultant to determine potential neonatal, paediatric or obstetric transport requirements.
- Assessing, stabilising and evaluating patient's clinical status at the referring hospital, during transport and prior to admission to a tertiary care centre or destination facility.
- Developing a sound knowledge of equipment functionality and troubleshooting.
- Coordinating mode of transport, personnel and equipment for efficient retrievals.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Current Neonatal intensive care skills and ability to care for Neonates on HFOV and Nitric Oxide.
- Ability to participate in aircraft and on-road retrievals.
- Demonstrated skills in planning and coordinating care delivery.
- Proven ability to build collaborative relationships and work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Salary and Benefits
This is a Fixed Term Part Time position of 12 months duration for Parental Leave cover. The estimated annual salary range is $120,000-$150,000 based on experience.
