Wildlife Conservation Officer

This is a challenging opportunity to join our conservation team as a Wildlife Conservation Officer. The role will involve assisting in the management of fire programs, including planning and execution of planned burning operations and bushfire suppression.

  • The position requires strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also essential, particularly in working with indigenous communities, pastoralists, and government agencies.
  • Leadership and people management skills are required to manage remote teams of staff.

The successful candidate will have qualifications in conservation, land management, or fire management, as well as experience in GIS software and spatial data management. Familiarity with 4WD vehicles and solo travel is also desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the management of fire programs, including planning and execution of planned burning operations and bushfire suppression.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of conservation plans and strategies.
