Speech Pathology Role Overview
About the Job
Healthscope is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Speech Pathologist to join our multidisciplinary team in an acute hospital setting. The successful candidate will have a strong clinical background in adult Speech Pathology, with expertise in assessing and managing dysphagia, including head and neck cancer and tracheostomy patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive Speech and Language Therapy services to patients on ICU, CCU, surgical, rehabilitation, and oncology wards
- Assess and manage dysphagia, including head and neck cancer and tracheostomy patients
- Complete relevant documentation, including Functional Independent Measure (FIM) assessments
- Participate in case conferences and progress meetings with the multidisciplinary team
- Contribute to program development and quality improvement activities within the Allied Health Department
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients and their support people
- Discharge planning and referrals to external services
Requirements
- Bachelor of Speech Pathology degree (or equivalent qualification)
- Previous clinical experience in adult Speech Pathology in an acute hospital setting
- Eligibility for Speech Pathology Australia membership
- High level of verbal and written communication skills
- Flexible and positive approach to work
- Ability to effectively and efficiently manage a caseload
- Capacity to work as a sole clinician
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated willingness to learn
- FIM accreditation
