Speech Pathologist Role Overview

At Healthscope, we are seeking a highly skilled Speech Pathologist to join our multidisciplinary team. As a Speech Pathologist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality speech and language therapy services to patients in various wards, including ICU, CCU, surgical, rehabilitation, and oncology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and manage dysphagia in patients with head and neck cancer or tracheostomy
  • Complete relevant documentation for Functional Independent Measure (FIM)
  • Participate in case conferences and progress meetings with the multidisciplinary team
  • Develop and implement program development and quality improvement activities within the Allied Health Department
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients and their support people
  • Discharge planning and referrals to external services

Essential Criteria:

  • Bachelor of Speech Pathology degree (or equivalent qualification)
  • Previous clinical experience in adult Speech Pathology in an acute hospital setting
  • Eligibility for Speech Pathology Australia membership
  • Demonstrated high level of verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible and positive approach to work
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently manage a caseload
  • Capacity to work as a sole clinician

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn
  • FIM accreditation
