Role Overview

This position is an exciting opportunity for a skilled EAL/D teacher to join our school community.

The successful applicant will have experience in curriculum and the capacity to support EAL/D students within Primary Schools. They will be part of a wider EAL/D team and will be required to collaborate with the School Leadership Team and CEDoW EAL/D Officers.

About the Role
  • This position requires significant experience in curriculum and the capacity to support EAL/D students within Primary Schools.
  • The role involves collaborating with the School Leadership Team and CEDoW EAL/D Officers.
  • The EAL/D Teacher will be responsible for designing and facilitating professional learning opportunities to build teacher capacity.
  • They will coordinate, facilitate and respond to the collection of student work samples and assessment data.
  • Support EAL/D students' learning needs through a range of pedagogical processes.
About You
  • You will demonstrate a deep understanding and commitment to the mission and purpose of the Catholic School within the broader Catholic Church.
  • A well-articulated understanding and application of student-centred, quality EAL/D pedagogical practices that are grounded in current evidence-based research.
  • You will identify EAL/D students' needs and plan for appropriate student support K-6.
  • Apply expert knowledge of the diverse needs of students of EAL/D to support their full participation in learning.
  • Facilitate the analysis of student work samples using the ACARA EAL/D Learning Progressions (and/or The ESL Scales) to direct teaching and learning.
  • Use a range of assessment strategies and analyse data to inform student learning.
  • Demonstrate commitment to engage professionally with colleagues, parents /carers and the wider school community.
Qualifications and Experience
  • You must have appropriate qualifications for teaching Primary K – 6.
  • Accredited Level B to teach Religious Education in accordance with To Work, Teach and Lead policy or a commitment to gain this level within the first 5 years of employment.
  • NESA accreditation to teach in NSW.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Working With Children Clearance

This role requires a Working With Children Check prior to employment.
