As a Medical Officer AVMO, you are part of a dynamic team delivering primary medical care to Defence members in accordance with professional standards and legislation.

About the Role

You will be responsible for assessing Defence personnel for fitness for duty and providing care that supports their health and wellbeing pre and post deployments. This role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team towards achieving and maintaining the health and wellbeing of Defence members.

  • Deliver primary medical care to patients in accordance with professional standards and legislation.
  • Assess Defence personnel for fitness for duty and provide care that supports their health and wellbeing.
  • Provide medical technical advice to Commanders of units.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Current unconditional and unrestricted General registration as a Medical Practitioner in Australia.
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP), Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM), or Vocational Registration.
  • Minimum 2 years' full-time post graduate general practitioner experience in a general practice setting within the last 5 years, with GPT Registrar rotations counted.
  • Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification.
